On November 11, the launching ceremony of the 6 Hengqin Life Hengqin Marathon, jointly sponsored by Guangdong Athletic Association, Huafa Group and Nanguang Group, was held at the Huafa Water Sports Center of the Guangdong-Macao Intensive Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.
It is reported that this year's event will start at 12:26 a.m. on December 7, with a scale of 30,12000 people, including 3000,6000 marathons, 3000,<> half-marathons and <>,<> mini-marathons.
This year's event starts and ends with the newly completed Hengqin Financial Island Central Park. The park covers an area of 5,8 square meters, located in the central area of the financial island, with the theme of 'green pearl', distributed along the north-south strip, spanning three plots, including a circular fitness track, a promenade, a green lawn, a romantic flower forest, a leisure platform, a leisure square, an image wall, etc., a large square park integrating fitness and leisure, which has become a new beauty of the 'cooperation area'.
In terms of routes, most of this year's event follows last year's classic track, starting from Hengqin Financial Island and passing through Hengqin Port, University of Macau, Macao Youth Entrepreneurship Valley, Hengqin International Tennis Center, Innovation Fang, Tianmu River, Guangdong-Macao Cooperation Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park, Xingledu Park, Mangzhou Wetland and Flower Sea Promenade, etc., showcasing the diverse ecology and ever-changing development of the Guangdong-Macao Intensive Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.
Huang Yujie, Acting Director of the Bureau for People's Livelihood of the Guangdong-Macao Intensive Co-operation Zone in Hengqin, said that this year is the first year of the establishment of the Guangdong-Macao Intensive Co-operation Zone in Hengqin, and the 2021 Hengqin Marathon is the first large-scale sports event after the establishment of the Co-operation Zone, hoping to further advocate a healthy lifestyle, carry forward the marathon spirit of challenging oneself, perseverance and never giving up, show the development achievements of the Co-operation Zone to all sectors of society, highlight the charm and vitality of the Co-operation Zone, and further strengthen sports exchanges and cooperation with Macao. The Hengqin Marathon is the closing battle of the annual 'marathon calendar' and the 'carnival party' at the end of the year for marathon enthusiasts. Under the premise of strictly implementing epidemic prevention and control measures, reducing the risk of epidemic transmission and spread, and effectively protecting the health and safety of runners, staff and citizens, the person in charge of the Hengqin Marathon Organizing Committee said that this year's participants will only accept Chinese mainland citizens from low-risk areas and local Macao residents to apply. If the risk index of the new crown epidemic in the participant's area is raised from low risk to medium or high risk area between the successful registration and the start of the competition day, the organizing committee will cancel the participation and refund the registration fee.
For loyal runners and outstanding runners, the 2021 Hengqin Marathon will provide direct access opportunities. Runners who participated in the 2018-2020 race for three consecutive years, as well as runners who participated in and completed the 2020 Hengqin Marathon within 3:30:00 (inclusive) for men's marathon and 4:40:00 (inclusive) for women's marathon, will be eligible for direct qualification after registering and completing payment on time.
In order to facilitate Macao runners' access to race information and materials, the Organizing Committee continued to set up an item distribution area in Macao, where Macao runners can collect their race bags.
