General situation of


Before you travel to Hengqin, you need to know the basic information of the place.Hengqin Island is located in Hengqin Town, Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, China, and adjacent to Macao in the east. Hengqin Island is the largest Island of Zhuhai City.Hengqin Island is adjacent to Hong Kong and Macao. There were originally two islands here: Greater Hengqin Island and lesser Hengqin Island.For thousands of years, they have been playing the song of the mountain, the song of the wind, the song of the sea, day and night, playing the song of the mountain, the song of the wind and the sea....

Hengqin climate


Located to the south of the Tropic of Cancer, Hengqin New Area is a south Asian tropical monsoon region, with an average annual temperature of 22-23 degrees Celsius. The hottest month is July, with an average temperature of 27.9 degrees Celsius.The sea has an average temperature of 22.4 degrees Celsius, an average annual precipitation of 2,015.9 mm, and an annual water storage capacity of 36.54 million cubic meters.

Historical evolution




In 1992, Hengqin Island was designated as one of the four key development zones for further opening-up by Guangdong.


In 2004, Zhang Dejiang, then secretary of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, proposed to establish Hengqin Island as 'Pan-Pearl River Delta Hengqin Economic Cooperation Zone'.


In December 2008, the State Council approved the Outline of the Reform and Development Plan for the Pearl River Delta Region, making it clear that 'The Construction of Zhuhai Hengqin New Area and other cooperation areas should be planned as a carrier for strengthening cooperation with Hong Kong and Macao in the service industry and high-tech industries'.


On January 10, 2009, Xi Jinping, then member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice President of The People's Republic of China, announced during his visit to Macao that the Central government had decided to approve the development of Hengqin Island and would fully consider the need of Macao to realize moderately diversified economic development in the process of development.


On June 24, 2009, the Executive meeting of the State Council adopted the Overall Development Plan of Hengqin and decided to include Hengqin Island in the scope of Zhuhai Special Economic Zone.


On August 14, 2009, the State Council officially approved the Hengqin Overall Development Plan, which incorporated Hengqin Island into Zhuhai Special Economic Zone, implemented more open industrial and information policies, and promoted the close cooperation and development of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and promoted the prosperity and stability of Hong Kong and Macao.


On December 16, 2009, after the tianjin binhai new area and the pudong new area in Shanghai, China's third national new city was founded in zhuhai Hengqin, at the same time, the total investment of more than 72.6 billion yuan in the first four project also announced the launch of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, guangdong provincial party committee secretary wang Yang, vice secretary of the CPC guangdong provincial party committee, governor of guangdong province huang huahua, for zhuhai Hengqin new area government and the party of the brand.


On March 5, 2010, Premier Wen Jiabao of the State Council pointed out in the Government Work Report delivered at the third session of the 11th National People's Congress that it is necessary to actively promote the construction of large-scale cross-border infrastructure such as the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and the development of Hengqin Island, deepen the cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and strengthen the economic ties between the mainland and Hong Kong and Macao.


On March 6, 2010, the People's Government of Guangdong Province and the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region signed the 'Framework Agreement on Guangdong-Macao Cooperation' at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, setting out priorities such as the cooperative development of Hengqin and the coordinated development of industries, and putting forward a series of cooperative measures such as the establishment of the Guangdong-Macao Cooperation industrial Park.


On March 11, 2011, the development of Hengqin was incorporated into the national 12th Five-Year Plan.


On March 5, 2012, Premier Wen Jiabao of the State Council stated in the Government Work Report that 'We will support Macao in building itself into a world leisure and tourism center, promote the construction of Hengqin New Area, and promote the moderately diversified development of its economy'.


On October 30, 2012, the Chronicle of Events Since the 17th National Congress of the CPC, compiled by the Party History Research Office of the CPC Central Committee, was broadcast by Xinhua News Agency. Hengqin was included in the chronicle in 2009.
