9. Participation Method

(1) Age Requirements

1. Marathon participants must be at least 20 years old (born on or before January 1, 2006, including that date);

2. Half marathon participants must be at least 18 years old (born on or before January 1, 2008, including that date);

3. Participants aged 70 or above (born before January 1, 1956) must submit a 'Participation Declaration' and a 'Health and Safety Responsibility Commitment' jointly signed by themselves and their family members (including spouse, parents, adult children, and other cohabiting adult close relatives), clearly acknowledging the risks and agreeing to participate.

(2) Health Requirements

Road running is a high-load, high-intensity, long-distance competitive sport with certain risks. If exercise is improper, it can cause varying degrees of physical injury, and may even be life-threatening. Therefore, marathon participants should be in good health and have a foundation of regular running exercise or training.

Individuals with the following illnesses or conditions are not suitable to participate in the competition:

1. Patients with congenital heart disease and rheumatic heart disease;

2. Patients with hypertension and cerebrovascular diseases;

3. Patients with myocarditis and other heart diseases;

4. Patients with coronary artery disease and severe arrhythmias;

5. Diabetic patients with excessively high or low blood sugar;

6. Those who have had a cold within two weeks before the competition;

7. Those who drank alcohol or had insufficient sleep the night before the race;

8. Pregnant women;

9. Those with infectious diseases who have not recovered;

10. Patients with other diseases unsuitable for exercise.

Participants must undergo a physical examination at a Grade II or higher hospital within 12 months before the race. Pre-race check-up includes blood pressure and routine ECG, or a 24-hour Holter ECG or a sports tablet test (any one of the three items is sufficient). If blood pressure is too high or the ECG is significantly abnormal (such as significant bradycardia), a cardiac ultrasound is required. The ECG and echocardiography cannot be substituted for each other. Participants should assess their physical condition based on their medical report to confirm whether they are eligible to participate in the marathon/half marathon. Any personal injury or property loss caused by personal health or other personal reasons shall be borne by the participant.

Course environment and risk warning: The Hengqin Marathon is a coastal course, and during the event you are prone to sea winds, intense sunlight, and high humidity. Participants should fully assess their adaptability. Older participants and first-time long-distance runners are advised to undergo a physical examination before the race and carefully assess their adaptability to the coastal course.

(3) Academic Requirements

To register for a marathon, you must have completed one full marathon or two half marathon results within 24 months prior to the registration deadline; Half marathon registration must have resulted in two races over distances of 10 kilometers or more within 24 months prior to the registration deadline.

A completion certificate meeting the score requirements must be uploaded when registering; If the required number of completions can be found on the official website of the Chinese Athletics Association, there is no need to provide a certificate of results.

(4) Registration Method

1. Marathon events are limited to 5,000participants, and half marathon events are limited to15,000 participants. If the number of registrants exceeds the quota, eligibility will be determined by pre-registration and drawing lots before payment.

2. Registration for this competition can be made through the official event website (website: www.hengqinmarathon.com), the 'Malamala' APP, or the 'Huafa Sports' mini-program. The specific registration procedures are as follows:

(1) Online registration and payment: Log in to the 'Event Official Website' or 'Mala Mara' app to fill out and submit your registration information online. The pre-registration will be shown as successful. Registration is completed once the lottery results are announced and the registration fee is successfully paid.

(2) Athletes currently included in the registration inspection database or database of the Anti-Doping Center of the General Administration of Sport of China who wish to participate must register via official email (OC@hengqinmarathon.com).

3. Registration Process

4. Registration Time and Fees

5. Contestants not eligible to register:

(1) Athletes who have been suspended by the Chinese Athletics Association for violating athletics competition rules and related event regulations.

(2) Participants who have been suspended by the organizing committee for violating the relevant regulations of events organized by the organizing committee and the operating unit.

(5) Registration Method for Disabled Participants

According to the relevant requirements of the Chinese Athletics Association's 'Notice on Disabled Athletes Participating in National Marathons and Related Sports Events,' the following explanation is provided regarding the participation procedures for disabled athletes in this event:

Athletes with disabilities must meet the registration requirements and complete registration through the official Hengqin Marathon website or partner app. If the number of registrants exceeds the quota, athletes with disabilities will be selected by lottery together with general athletes.

To ensure the safety of all athletes, non-racing wheelchair athletes and visually impaired athletes must log in to the official Hengqin Marathon website after submitting registration information, download the 'Non-Racing Wheelchair Athlete Registration Application Form' or 'Visually Impaired Athlete Registration Application Form,' fill it out, and submit it along with a scanned copy or photo of the disability certificate in Beijing time 2026Send the data back to the official contact email before 22:00 on September 12 (OC@hengqinmarathon.com)。 Visually impaired athletes must be accompanied by a running companion throughout the entire race. Companion runners must have successfully submitted registration information and be in the same event as visually impaired athletes, and must be registered together. Any consequences arising from participation without reporting to the organizing committee or without authorization shall be the responsibility of the athlete. If a safety accident (including personal injury to the athlete) occurs due to the accompanying athlete's failure to fulfill their duties, the athlete shall bear the responsibility themselves.

There is no racing wheelchair category in this event, and race wheelchairs are not allowed to participate. To ensure the safety of participating athletes, non-racing wheelchair athletes must follow the guidance of referees and volunteers to assemble at the end of each event and start safely and orderly.

Other categories of disabled athletes (such as those with visual impairments, hearing impairments, intellectual disabilities, upper limb disabilities, etc.) will start safely and orderly in their respective zones together with general athletes according to the competition zoning rules.

(6) Elite contestant registration method

This edition does not invite elite players to register. Athletes currently included in the registration inspection database or database of the General Administration of Sport of China's Anti-Doping Center must register (OC@hengqinmarathon.com) via the official email and may only participate after approval.

(7) Registration

Participants must check in and collect the relevant items from December 24 to December 26. For detailed check-in details, please refer to the collection instructions published on the WeChat public account.

10. Competition Method

(1) Comply with the 'World Athletics Competition and Technical Rules,' the 'Chinese Athletics Association Road Running Event Management System Document,' and the regulations for this marathon.

(2) Doping tests will be conducted in accordance with the relevant regulations of World Athletics and the Chinese Athletics Federation. Participants (including retired athletes) must strictly comply with the World Anti-Doping Regulations and the relevant requirements of the Anti-Doping Rules issued by the General Administration of Sport of China before competing. If retired athletes participate in violation of regulations, their competition results and other income-related benefits will be canceled.

(3) All participants must wear the race bib number correctly during the competition and wear it on the chest. If a participant folds, covers, tears, or damages their bib bib without permission, once discovered, they will be disqualified, will not be allowed to enter, and will not be able to obtain race results or finisher items.

(4) Check-in Method: Participants should arrange their travel time reasonably. It is recommended to arrive at the designated area at least 60 minutes before the race for check-in. Participants enter the venue through bib number verification to enter the designated assembly area.

Zone Check-in: Participants will be classified by their best results in marathon or half marathon events certified as 'A1 category events' held on the China Marathon Information Platform between January 1, 2024 and August 31, 2026, as the regional basis for classification. Participants will gather in designated areas.

The organizing committee will open the district appeal portal after the results are announced. Participants may upload their transcripts for A1 class events, World Athletics badged events, or AIMS-certified events from January 1, 2024, to August 31, 2026, within 2 calendar days to appeal.

Wheelchair participants must assemble at the rear of the final assembly area. Due to course conditions, there is no racing wheelchair category for this competition, and using racing wheelchairs is not permitted.

The organizing committee will set up a check-in carpet in front of each zone, and participants must strictly follow the zones for entry. After the race start, competitors must first pass the check-in carpet in their zone, then pass the timing carpet at the start for their results to be valid.

Participants must wear appropriate sports clothing and bib numbers as required. For safety reasons, non-competition items (such as flags, banners, strollers, etc.) are not allowed to participate. Those who do not meet the requirements will be disqualified.

(5) Starting Zones: Participants are arranged in the order of marathon and half marathon zones, with 10-meter intervals between zones.

(6) Announcement: Announcements will be issued by splitting the guns. Specific methods for each district will be notified separately to participants based on registration status. If a participant starts invalidly, they will not be stopped, and the judges will disqualify them from the race.

(7) Timing Method

1. This race uses induction timing and provides timing chips approved by the Chinese Athletics Association for marathon and half marathon participants.

2. The organizing committee will set up a check-in carpet in front of each zone, and participants must strictly follow the zones for entry. After the race starts, participants must first pass the check-in carpet in their respective zone, and then pass the timing carpet at the start for the results to be valid.

3. Timing blankets are set up at the start, every 5 kilometers, turnaround points, and finish. Timing chips will start timing on the starting blanket. Participants must pass all the timing blankets in turn during the run. Participants who finish the race within the cutoff time but miss any timing points will not be ranked.

4. Timing chips will be distributed simultaneously with race bibs at the event item pickup site, with no chip deposit required.

(8) Competition cutoff time

To ensure the safety of participants, public traffic will be temporarily closed off for a limited time. Each section of the race route has a dedicated cutoff time during the race. After the cutoff time, the timing blankets at the corresponding kilometer points stop working, and social traffic will resume on the respective sections. Participants who do not complete the required distance within the cutoff time must immediately stop the race and leave the course to avoid danger. Otherwise, any resulting accidents will be the responsibility of the participant for the corresponding legal and compensation responsibilities. Participants who withdraw from the race can take a shuttle bus at the reception stations along the route or take public transportation to reach the destination. In special circumstances, the organizing committee reserves the right to close early, and participants must comply with the committee's arrangements.

Note: If the road opens after the cutoff time but the timing point is not passed, any accidents or incidents will be borne by the participant for legal and compensation responsibilities.

(9) Clothing storage and storage

On the day of the race, clothing storage services will be provided for marathon and half marathon participants. Participants should store their uniforms in the designated area at the start according to their number segment. After reaching the finish line, please collect your shirt in the designated area with the same bib.

Dangerous items and liquids are prohibited from entering the starting point. Participants must not store valuables in their clothing bags (such as mobile phones, valid IDs, cash, keys, credit cards, electronic devices, etc.). If damaged or lost, the participant will bear the consequences. Large items such as strollers and suitcases are prohibited from being stored at the starting point.

On the day of the race, the starting line clothing storage service will close 15 minutes before the starting gun for each event. Participants are advised to plan their schedules accordingly. Marathon participants must complete the race day by 14:3:0 (half marathon participants must finish at 1:2:0 on the race day). 0) Pick up personal stored items at the designated area at the finish line. If you do not collect your items after the deadline, you may collect them at the event organizing committee within 5 days after the race (if mailing is required, any costs will be borne by the participant). (11) Restrooms, temporary sprinkler installation, and environmental protection

1. The organizing committee will set up portable restrooms every 2.5 kilometers starting from 5 kilometers along the start and course route, and at the finish line.

2. To protect the environment, participants are not allowed to relieve themselves anywhere during the competition. Do not discard any packaging paper, bottles, jars, or garbage at will; try to dispose of them into the trash bins or garbage bags provided by the organizing committee. Participants must comply with waste sorting management regulations during the competition and work together to protect the environment.

3. The organizing committee will set up temporary sprinklers along the course based on race day weather conditions, with specific locations announced before the race.

(12) Medical Rescue

1. The organizing committee will set up fixed medical stations at the start, along the race route (every 2.5 kilometers from 5 kilometers to the finish), and at the finish line. Ambulances and emergency volunteers are available along the route, and mobile AED medical rescue services are provided.

2. During the competition, the organizing committee will provide free emergency treatment that can only be taken on-site. Any expenses incurred during subsequent hospital treatment will be settled by participants and the hospital, which they may apply for compensation from the insurance company or negotiate with the insurance company themselves. The organizing committee can provide necessary information and documentation.

3. If a participant loses consciousness during the event, the organizing committee's medical staff and emergency volunteers will automatically be entrusted to perform all necessary rescue measures, including but not limited to CPR, AED external defibrillation, and rapid transfer by rental vehicle or aircraft. Any legal liabilities and associated costs arising therefrom shall be borne by the contestant themselves.

4. To ensure the safety of participants, referees and staff authorized by the organizing committee have the right to terminate the competition for participants who are clearly unable to continue.

11. Reward Measures

(3) Marathon Record-Breaking Award

Men: 2:14:56 (not included), reward 10,000 yuan.

(4) Ranking and Admission and Reward Methods

The top eight in the marathon/half marathon are ranked by gunshots, while the remaining positions are ranked by net score. The top three men and women will receive awards on site; no cash prizes will be given on site. If a participant fails the doping test results, their ranking and rewards will be canceled, and their ranking will not be replaced.

(5) All of the above bonuses are subject to a 20% personal income tax according to the standard.

(6) The organizing committee will award trophies and medals to the top three male and female participants in the marathon and half marathon, respectively.

(7) Only participants who complete the race according to the prescribed route and regulations during the cutoff time may use their race bib to claim the finisher medal and finisher items for this edition.

(8) Participants who complete the designated route during the cutoff time can log in to the Hengqin Marathon official website after the race to download the certificate of results. The certificate includes the sectional point time, gunshot time, net time, etc.

12. Penalty Measures

(1) Participants must comply with the relevant regulations on competition style and discipline as stipulated in the 'Sports Law of the People's Republic of China,' the 'Measures for the Administration of Sport and Discipline in Sports Events' issued by the General Administration of Sport of China, the 'Implementation Rules for the Management of Competition Style and Discipline in National Athletics Events' issued by the Chinese Athletics Association, and the 'Regulations on Discipline Management for Road Running Events by the Chinese Athletics Association.'

(2) Penalty Measures

1. To strengthen the management of race style and discipline, the organizing committee strictly prohibits the unauthorized transfer (sale) or acceptance of transfer (buying) of race qualifications. All substitute runners, ride on others' bikes, forge bibs, or use non-event bibs are prohibited from entering the course. Once discovered, violators will be permanently banned from participating in the Hengqin Marathon and reported to the Chinese Athletics Association for additional penalties. All consequences caused by violations such as proxy running, riding on others, or forging bib numbers will be borne by the violators. For any economic losses or serious impacts, the organizing committee reserves the right to pursue legal responsibility for violators.

2. The organizing committee will monitor the start, the entire route, and the finish line via video surveillance. If any of the following violations occur in the race, the Hengqin Marathon Organizing Committee, according to the rules and regulations, will impose penalties such as criticism and education, internal interviews, orders for inspection, suspension of qualification, cancellation of eligibility, cancellation of race results, public criticism, warnings, serious warnings, restrictions or prohibitions from participating in current and/or subsequent events, and in severe cases, the Chinese Athletics Association will be reported to the Chinese Athletics Association for additional penalties Any road running-related events and activities are prohibited within the year, up to a lifetime ban. Penalties:

(1) Registering for the competition using a false age.

(2) Concealing health conditions during the competition.

(3) Participating under impersonation, forging race numbers or documents, or falsifying information.

(4) Failure to wear competition uniforms and bib numbers as required.

(5) Starting in areas other than the designated starting order according to regulations.

(6) Failing to start ahead of schedule according to the specified starting time.

(7) Entering the track in violation of regulations by riding any vehicle.

(8) Entering the course after not completing the race route along the designated route, taking a shortcut or using other means of transportation before entering.

(9) Engaging in fouls such as pushing, pushing, bumping, or tripping others during the match.

(10) Taking supplies from other elite athletes that were not returned in a timely manner.

(11) Repeatedly crossing the finish line to collect post-race items without following the requirements.

(12) Collecting souvenirs without completing the entire course at the finish line.

(13) Disobeying instructions from event staff.

(14) Verbal abuse, fighting, or causing trouble during the competition.

(15) Not proactive, not proactive, or playing passively during the competition.

(16) Making inappropriate remarks about the event or causing adverse effects.

(17) Uncivilized behaviors such as urinating anywhere, littering, or smoking.

(18) Actions that interfere with other participants' participation (such as jumping rope, pushing strollers, bringing pets, etc.).

(19) Non-physical disability participants must use wheelchairs to compete.

(20) Other behaviors that violate sportsmanship and moral standards.

(21) Other behaviors violating competition rules and regulations.

(3) According to the Law of the People's Republic of China on Penalties for Administration of Public Security and other relevant laws and regulations, as well as the rules of the event organizing committee, to ensure the safe and orderly conduct of the event, it is strictly forbidden to bring umbrellas, canned or glass containers, selfie sticks and stabilizers with extendable functions, flagpoles, or other items that may pose safety hazards or hinder the normal conduct of the event.

(4) Without written authorization from the Hengqin Marathon Organizing Committee, no organization or individual may engage in profit-making filming at the event site, nor may they use related event footage for commercial purposes. For acts that infringe on event rights, the organizing committee has the right to pursue legal responsibility according to law.

(5) To protect the rights and interests of event sponsors, except for sponsors designated by the organizing committee, any form of commercial promotional materials is strictly prohibited throughout the Hengqin Marathon course, including but not limited to flags, banners, balloons, models, and other items. Violating items will be confiscated, and violators will be disqualified.

(6) The organizing committee accepts supervision of participants and the public after the competition for any violations or uncivilized behavior during the competition. Reports must be made with explanations and relevant supporting documents sent to the official email OC@hengqinmarathon.com, valid for 10 days after the race.

(7) Entries not listed in this section are managed by the Chinese Athletics Association according to technical rules.

13. Insurance

For this competition, all participants and staff will purchase personal accident insurance (including sudden death insurance). The insurance coverage for participants must not be less than 500,000 RMB. The policy is based on the registration information. Incorrect registration information will result in inability to purchase insurance, and substitutes will not be eligible for insurance and will face corresponding penalties. Please check the 'Personal Insurance Manual' on the official Hengqin Marathon website before the race.

Special Note:

1. The insurance purchased by the organizing committee is personal accident insurance. However, adverse consequences caused by one's own illness or physical reasons are not covered by accidental injury insurance. Therefore, participants are advised to register cautiously.

2. If a participant causes personal injury or death due to doping or other prohibited substances during the competition, the contestant shall bear full responsibility.

3. During the competition, the organizing committee will provide free emergency medical treatment that can only be taken on-site. Any expenses incurred during subsequent hospital treatment that fall within the scope of compensation will be settled by participants and the hospital, and may apply to the insurance company for claims or negotiate with the insurance company themselves. The organizing committee can provide necessary documentation for support.

14. Technical representatives, technical officials, and referees

Technical representatives, technical officials, and referees are to be selected from the Chinese Athletics Association, Guangdong Athletics Association, and Zhuhai Athletics Association.

15. Circuit breaker mechanism for competitions

In the event of natural disasters, accidents, public health incidents, social security incidents, or other circumstances that may no longer meet the conditions for hosting the event, for the safety of all personnel, the organizing committee will, depending on the circumstances, make decisions such as temporarily changing the race route, postponing the race time, terminating the race early, or even canceling the event. Regardless of the decision made, participants must comply with the organizing committee's arrangements.

16. Self-willingness to take risks

The Civil Code of the People's Republic of China establishes the 'risk of voluntary risk' clause in cultural and sports activities. Article 1176 stipulates: If one voluntarily participates in a cultural and sports activity with certain risks and suffers harm due to the actions of other participants, the victim shall not request that other participants bear tort liability; However, other participants who have intentional or gross negligence in the occurrence of the damage are excluded.

If the organizer of mass activities fails to fulfill their safety guarantee obligations and causes harm to others, they shall bear tort liability.
